Director of Product Development, Europe Job Description:
This role is a great opportunity for a driven and self-motivated individual who is seeking an opportunity to build and grow their general management with P&L Responsibilities. As part of the Senior Leadership team, the Director of Product Development for Europe will be responsible for:
- the vision, development and management of European products,
- and leading the European team.
The Director of Product Development will work closely with sales, marketing, client services, research and development and operations groups to understand market needs, support the development of scalable products that meet those needs of the market. The individual will take responsibility for the direct financial performance of the business and all aspects of European execution.
The Director of Product Development for Europe will report to the CEO and serve as a member of Genscape’s Senior Leadership Team. He/She will have access to corporate resources located in the U.S. and Europe and will work with the Management team to prioritize the utilization of those resources.
Key areas of responsibility include:
Product Leadership Strategy / Product Marketing:
- Develop a deep understanding of European Power, Oil and Natural Gas market dynamics and customer needs as well; be familiar with the legal aspects and regulations of the European Energy Markets.
- Provide product leadership and direction in Europe (to groups such as R&D, operations and IT).
- Organize and define the European product vision, strategy and roadmap.
- Deliver MRDs and PRDs with prioritized features and corresponding justification.
- Work with external third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities.
- Coordinate product launch plans with Sales, Marketing and Client Services including beta trials, marketing activities & customer feedback.
- Be an expert with respect to the competition and work with management to provide guidance and insight on marketing Genscape’s European products effectively.
Financial Management:
- P&L responsibility for European products.
- Set pricing to meet revenue and profitability goals for all European Products.
- Develop business cases for development projects.
- Deliver quarterly revenue forecasts; communication with the corporation and its parent.
Leadership Skills:
- Provide clear direction and product vision/management to the European team and provide guidance and support to QA, R&D, IT, and Sales/Client Services.
- Develop and lead the European team.
Desired Skills & Experience
Pertinent Skills and Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Product Director or Managing Director in the Power and Oil Energy Market Industry, Information Services or related industry.
- Bachelor's degree required, an advanced degree is helpful but not required
- Proven ability to lead teams and develop people.
- Strong experience in the energy markets preferred as well as understanding of the legal aspects and regulations of those markets.
- Demonstrated success defining, organizing and launching excellent products.
- Financial experience in product/project planning, forecasting and budgeting required.
- Strong leadership experience required in both product management and leading groups.
- Proven ability to influence and streamline cross-functional teams as well experience directing an office, group or team in a positive direction.
- Must be able to travel throughout the US and Europe as needed.
- Proficiency in the English language is a must. Proficiency in German and/or French is useful.
